Noelia Weisstaub is a biologist at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires. She received her doctorate (honors degree) at Columbia University in New York (USA) in the Biology program at the Graduate School of Arts and Science under the direction of Dr Rene Hen and Dr Jay Gingrich. In that period I analyzed the role of the 5-HT2a receptor in processes of emotional control and the action of hallucinogenic drugs. At the end of her doctorate she completed a postdoctoral degree in the Division of Neuroscience Translational of the Psychiatric Institute of New York under the direction of Dr. Gingrich. She returned to Argentina under the Human Resources Repatriation Roots Program (PRH). First with a CONICET reinsertion scholarship under the direction of Dr Jorge Medina at the Institute of Cell Biology and Neurosciences of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires. In 2009, she joined CONICET as an Assistant Researcher and began his laboratory in the Group of System Neurosciences in the Department of Physiology of the School of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires. She runs the Molecular Cognition Laboratory along with Pedro Bekinschtein. The research lines of the laboratory are intended to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of memory and forgetfulness and the role of the serotonergic system in these processes. She has been teaching at the University of Buenos Aires for 9 years.
